What is the first book that made you cry?

What is the most unethical practice in the publishing industry?

The most unethical practice in the publishing industry is Plagiarism

Does writing energize or exhaust you?

This depends on the topic. I usally absorb characters’ feelings, and if the event is too sad or dark it can have me in ball in a corner for a day or two. On the other side, I can be skipping and happy all day if I am writing less stressful scenes.

What are common traps for aspiring writers?

Trying to force things in a story just because it’s the trend. Forcing your story to do anything is going to come off as inauthentic. We are not the creators of these stories as much as we believe. We are merely a vessel.

Does a big ego help or hurt writers?

That depends on if it is disrespectful or not. You can think highly of yourself without putting others down, and that is cool; but the minute you have to demean others to make you feel big, you are doing yourself a disservice.

What is your writing Kryptonite?

Being interrupted. I can be on a roll and, because I have such a bug family, get called to tend something, losing my train of thought.

Did you ever consider writing under a pseudonym?

Hahahaha. I probably should have, but nope.

Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?

Oh original, definitely. It gets me in trouble at times, but I like to go down less tread paths. I keep elements of familiarity throughout as to no completely throw readers.

Do you think someone could be a writer if they don’t feel emotions strongly?

Yes. They still have a creative mind to create stories and plots. Feeling emotions is not a necessity. Probably means they will spend less time in a ball in the corner recovering from a character’s loss.

What other authors are you friends with, and how do they help you become a better writer?

I don’t think I can mention all of them because I am likely to forget one, but the Brooms are definitely a support I didn’t expect when started my writing journey. We bounce ideas around, honestly say what doesn’t work, and we combat each other’s imposter syndromes. They definitely nourish my creativity. Someone I will name is Nadine Nelson who has been my sounding board for years. If you have someone who will read through countless drafts of the same project, they deserve a mention and a special seat in heaven.
